The parties in the Ted Agu / University of California lawsuit have filed a conditional notice of settlement. An April court date, previously set for the start of a jury trial, is now scheduled as a final settlement hearing, according to the new March 24 filing in Alameda County Superior Court.

After Cal acknowledged liability in football player Agu’s 2014 death during an extreme offseason conditioning drill — and with knowledge that Agu had sickle cell trait — it was implausible that the case would actually go to trial, and now it seems clear that it will not.
