Concussion Inc. has now received multiple copies, from multiple directions, of the 2007 Indianapolis police arrest report on USA Swimming board member Brandon Drawz — a favorite of CEO Chuck Wielgus who continues to get pushed for high positions in the sport’s organization even after getting sacked by SwimMAC in North Carolina.
Specifically, Drawz served as manager of the American team at the recent World University Games. This despite our reports that he had been booted by the club operating out of Mt. Hood Community College in Portland, for financial improprieties; been an executive and board leader of the criminally fraudulent National Swimming Center Corporation (which seems to have other murky ties to top USA Swimming people); cold-cocked a 67-year-old coach-employer during an argument; and landed in the Indianapolis police pokey when he was supposed to be chaperoning kids at a national meet.
In the links below, I have reported the gist of the Indianapolis incident, and with the publication of the full report next week further details will crystallize (for example, Drawz at first tried to avoid arrest by impersonating a police officer).
USA Swimming’s Aquatic Sports Convention opens next Monday, and Drawz’s status should be a lively topic there. For now, let’s reset with headline links to our complete series.
