In the University of California-Berkeley basketball sexual harassment cover-up — second cousin to the University of California-Berkeley football cover-up of the negligent homicide of Ted Agu — the only coach who wound up sustaining bus tire tread marks was Yann Hufnagel, assistant to head basketball coach Cuonzo Martin.

Hufnagel resigned after putting up a half-hearted fight to allegations that he harassed a female newspaper reporter. Martin got investigated for reports that he failed to act on the claims in a timely fashion.

Connor Latorneau of the San Francisco Chronicle reported that Cal’s announcement that Martin last week was cleared of wrongdoing got released nine minutes before an announcement that the head coach and the university had come to terms on a new contract that will compensate him to the tune of $1.64 million a year, “plus signing and retention bonuses,” and with “several academic-based and performance-based bonuses.” See http://www.sfgate.com/collegesports/article/Cuonzo-Martin-finally-signs-contract-with-Cal-7966709.php.
