The headline above is the auto-response today from the email account of Susan Woessner, USA Swimming’s safe sport director.

Here’s a passage from the article in the Baltimore Sun last week previewing the Safe to Compete conference, which is being staged by the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation:

“Maryland has also seen recent cases of alleged child sexual abuse in sports. In October 2011, a coach with Michael Phelps’ former swim club, the North Baltimore Aquatic Club, resigned following allegations of inappropriate conduct with a female swimmer in 1975.”

As anyone who has read our coverage of the Murray Stephens follies know, that is an adventure in cryptography.

The only sexual abuse summit that interests me is the one involving the leaders of Congress who will decide when and where to hold hearings on the widespread cases of abuse and cover-up within USA Swimming.
