Below is the text of an email sent earlier today to Susan Woessner, USA Swimming’s athlete protection officer, and Karen Linhart, the public relations director.

Ms. Woessner:
1. By what principle of public education on sex abuse (your presumed portfolio) is USA Swimming now emphasizing the 16 (or, as David Berkoff said, “nearly a dozen”) coaches added to the banned list in the last 24 months — rather than the total of 67 banned coaches on a list you began publishing after 20/20 in spring 2010?
2. What is the size of the National Board of Review’s case backlog?

3. Question 2 is asked because of the report that Ad’m Dusenbury’s 13-month-old file was de-prioritized after he “removed himself from the sport.” What is the status of the Dusenbury investigation? And what, specifically, can you report about an interim or provisional agreement by him to remove himself from swimming? Also: What is the comment of USA Swimming’s Athlete Protection Officer on Dusenbury’s featured speaking appearance at the recent American Swimming Coaches Association World Clinic in Las Vegas? Did that constitute involvement in swimming?

Finally, Ms. Linhart can advise me on whether she has ordered my removal from email servers for asking the above questions.

Thanks,
Irv Muchnick
