George Visger, who has lived with hydrocephalus (water on the brain) and a shunt inside his skull ever since playing on the 1981 San Francisco 49ers team that won the franchise’s first Super Bowl championship, will be a presenter at the Santa Clara Valley Brain Injury Conference in San Jose, California, on Saturday, February 25.
Visger – whose ebook OUT OF MY HEAD: My Life in And Out of Football, was recently published by Concussion Inc. – will address the conference’s 2:05 p.m. plenary session on the topic “Successful Coping Strategies: Overcoming a Brain Battered by Football.”
The second annual Santa Clara Valley Brain Injury Conference is a partnership of the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, the Veterans Administration, the Department of Rehabilitation, the Brain Injury Association of California, and other community-based service providers. More than 700 people are in attendance, including rehabilitation professionals representing a variety of disciplines, individuals with brain injury, family members, and caregivers.
