One blog reader’s response to our report on the lost voicemail messages from Chris Benoit’s cell phone account: “I would think that systems like voicemail are so redundant that it would seem almost impossible to lose a message.”
That is my gut reaction, too, to the purported problem at Verizon Wireless that the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office cited for its failure to include the Benoit cell voice messages in its release of open records. The official explanation, which is vague in the first place, is fishier still because neither it, nor even mention of the problem, appeared in the case-closing report itself, but only in response to my follow-up questions.
I’m looking for a voicemail systems expert. If you know this stuff, contact me at tips@muchnick.net.
