Florida’s Nova Southeastern University is Playing Dumb with Serious Questions about the Campus Presence of Swim Coach Abuser Alex Pussieldi
June 12, 2026by Irvin Muchnick
The next public event in the legal proceedings of notorious sexual abuser and former Irish Olympic swimming coach George Gibney will be a hearing Monday in a Dublin courtroom. No further details were available from my source in Ireland.
Under Irish law, the news media there have been barred from reporting on these developments or even publishing Gibney’s name, in the nearly year following his arraignment on 78 counts of sexual assault and one of attempted rape. He was arrested by federal agents in Florida last July on an extradition request by Ireland.
We won’t know until Monday if the scheduled hearing involves something technical, the actual start of a trial, or even the presentation to the court of a plea bargain proposal.
