In Monday’s penetrating installment of the Slate-Deadspin NFL Roundtable, Slate sports editor Josh Levin writes:
Our friend Stefan Fatsis relates the following conversation in the Fox studio after the Giants-Eagles game.
Howie Long: “[Vick] wasn’t right today.”
Curt Menefee: “Yeah, he wasn’t.”
Long: “It just didn’t seem like he was 100 [percent]. Something was off.”
Whether or not he was being intentionally evasive, Long didn’t bother to indicate what that something might have been.[…]
Yesterday I emailed Levin (cc to Fatsis):
Why did you use Fatsis as a hearsay source on the CBS post-game crew’s Vick concussion euphemisms? Millions of people heard Long and Menefee. Perhaps throwing a little TBI street cred Stefan’s way? In any case — nice job.
This time, so far, Fatsis hasn’t written to tell me to “go fuck yourself.”
