The headline of this post is also the rally cry of sports-talk radio host Dan Bernstein of WSCR in Chicago. Bernstein has drawn the line perfectly as the debate over concussions in football evolves into its public-health corollary.
We all know that football is supposed to make kids tough and cool. The evidence grows and clarifies, however, around a contrary outcome: that this is a sport making young people dumb and nuts. The continued mainstreaming of football in public high schools is equally dumb and nuts.
