Carl DeMarco started out with WWE as the person who drove Bret Hart to his Canadian bookings. DeMarco rose to the presidency of the company’s Canadian operations and now is one of the circle of strategists exporting the WWE brand to other continents.
As the piece on this blog headlined “EXCLUSIVE: WWE Knew Chris Benoit Was the Perpetrator Before Staging ‘Monday Night Raw’ Tribute,” http://muchnick.net/babylon/2008/04/03/exclusive-wwe-knew-chris-benoit-was-the-perpetrator-before-staging-%e2%80%98monday-night-raw%e2%80%99-tribute/, recounts, DeMarco was the master source for the information, which reached interested others on Monday afternoon, June 25, 2007, that company higher-ups produced the Benoit tribute on Raw that night with knowledge that he was the one who had killed his wife, their son, and himself.
In the previous post I told of how Scott Zerr – one of the people DeMarco told, who in turn told Mike Benoit – was making a ham-handed denial to Josh Stewart of the Long Island Press. In addition to passing the denial along to Mike Benoit, Stewart had some unkind things to say about me, some of which were irresponsible in their inaccuracy.
Someone with a lot more knowledge than I about the inner workings of the house of intrigue that is World Wrestling Entertainment had this reaction: “The combination of the denial and running you down shows the campaign is likely coming direct from DeMarco, and that they have no defense. DeMarco is the type – clumsy in covering his tracks.”
