Katie Zacharia, Donald Trump’s new press secretary, lied about being a lawyer. She has never passed a bar examination. Trump’s mouthpiece is a liar. Shocker.
Concussion Inc. readers will recall a similar scenario with Michael Henry, founding lead staffer at the U.S. Center for Safe Sport. In 2018 he and a Safe Sport investigator named Kathleen Smith sandbagged an abuse survivor, Sarah Ehekircher, who was lured into her intake interview at a Denver law firm that has represented the U.S. Olympic Committee and affiliated national sport governing bodies. Smith had told Ehekircher that Henry would be there for “help with note-taking.”
Some Man Friday this was. Turns out Henry was calling himself the center’s Director of Legal Affairs in his email signature, though that title was in dispute. He changed his LinkedIn listing to say that he was “Director, Investigations & Outcomes.” He was the agency’s highest-paid employee, with a salary of $148,938 and additional “bonus & incentive compensation” of $69,985.
And Henry never passed a state bar exam.
No legal credentials, no problem – he jumped from the Safe Sport position to the post of “national judicial integrity officer for the federal courts.” The job description is, obviously, as integrity-optional as that of the White House press secretary.
