Two weeks ago we published Maryland parent Tom Hearn’s essay on the reconsideration the state university regents should give to public college football programs in the wake of the 2011 death of Frostburg State University player Derek Sheely. See https://concussioninc.net/?p=8116.

We’re happy to report that yesterday the regents invited Hearn to address them at their board meeting. An adaptation of Hearn’s article also ran both in online versions of both the Baltimore Sun (http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/opinion/oped/bs-ed-frostburg-football-regents-20130919,0,5060120.story) and its sister Chicago Tribune.

Way to go, Tom. Again — these kinds of places are where the debate over the future of football is headed.
