Commissioner Barbot:
Please get back to me on the following questions, for a story that will be published around noon Eastern time Monday.
1. I have received no response regarding my Maryland Public Information Act request for Meadowbrook Aquatic Club public pool license applications (see last Thursday’s email, below). Please acknowledge receipt of my request and advise as to its disposition.
2. I conclude from my complete record of correspondence with both state and city officials that (a) Maryland DHMH delegates Baltimore public pool regulation to your department; and (b) you do not consider inspection of the Meadowbrook lifeguarding system, or inquiries into the breakdown there on October 28, 2012, to fall under your mandate. Does (b) remain an accurate description of your position? Will the Lowenthal incident simply become part of the next Child Fatality Review report, as DHMH’s Dr. Mitchell explained it, and that’s the end of the City Health Department’s involvement?
Thank you,
Irvin Muchnick

Subject: Maryland Public Information Act request
This is an official request for copies of public records under the Maryland Public Information Act.
I seek copies of the original license application and the most recent renewal application (including supplements and supporting documents) filed with the Baltimore City Health Department by the Meadowbrook Aquatic Center. The application process is described at http://baltimorehealth.org/ecology.html#pool.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
