This is another “Alford plea,” which roughly translates to, “I admit the charge and I deny the charge.”

No mention by The Washington Post, which publishes the house organ of local swimming, that Rucker was most recently with the Curl-Burke Swim Club, whose ex-head, Rick Curl, now faces charges in Montgomery County, Maryland, for his serial molestations of swimmer Kelly Davies in the 1980s. Curl later acknowledged the allegations in a $150,000 hush-money agreement with the Davies family, and last year “accepted” a lifetime ban by USA Swimming for having brought “disrepute to the Corporation.”

With utmost tact, The Post reports, “At the time of [Rucker’s] arrest, police said he coached swimmers throughout the region.”
