In yesterday’s post I suggested fundraising by fans to assist the damaged lives of former National Football League players.

Blog reader Dr. Andrew Blecher — medical director of the Center for Rehabilitation Medicine in Van Nuys, California, and director of the SCORE Concussion Program — writes:

“I think you might be onto something here. At high school football games they do a 50/50 raffle where everyone in the stands buys a ticket and the winner gets half and the other half goes to the football team for fundraising. If every NFL stadium did that for $5 for every fan and the proceeds went to the home team every week to fund a players brain injury pool…. That would be significant.”
