The ombudsman assigned to my complaint before the Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission told me that the Stamford Police Department and its advocate, Michael Toma of the city attorney’s office, believe there is a court case supporting their contention that the “Benoit Wikipedia hacker” interrogation video is exempt under the state Freedom of Information Act. (For background on the dispute, see the many previous posts on this blog.)
That was more than two weeks ago. I asked the ombudsman, Tracie C. Brown, to ask Mr. Toma for the specific case citation, and she did.
On Monday of this week Ms. Brown said Mr. Toma told her that he was going to provide the case citation.
Yesterday I emailed Ms. Brown, in part: “I am glad Attorney Toma is going to provide the case citation. May I ask when? It is not a complicated thing to provide, and if the case turns out to have gangbusters facts that are not inapposite to the current dispute, then I might even be persuaded to withdraw my complaint.”
