August 1, 2012USA Swimming has told Kelley Davies-Currin that the “emergency hearing” in the matter of coach Rick Curl’s serial molestations of her in the 1980s has been postponed until September. In the interim, Curl is “provisionally suspended” from swimming.
The relevant portion of USA Swimming attorney Richard Young’s email to Currin’s attorney B. Robert Allard:
“Please advise your client that Mr. Curl’s USA Swimming membership and coaching privileges have been provisionally suspended until the National Board of Review case against him is heard on September 19, 2012. Mr. Curl elected to waive his right to an emergency hearing and agreed to a provisional suspension without admission, reserving his right to contest USA Swimming’s request for a lifetime ban at the full National Board of Review hearing set for September 19.”
