WRESTLlNG BABYLON: Piledriving Tales of Drugs, Sex, Death, and Scandal (ECW Press) – Irvin Muchnick’s new book about pro wrestling behind the scenes – is the second hottest-selling title in its category in current Amazon.com rankings.
According to Amazon, only The Hardcore Diaries, the latest book by wrestler and perennial bestselling author Mick Foley, is moving faster than WRESTLING BABYLON among new pro wrestling titles.
“We’re very pleased with the early sales of WRESTLING BABYLON,” said Michael Holmes of ECW Press, which has been cited by Publishers Weekly as one of the fastest-growing and most diversified publishers in North America.
“Mainstream media attention for pro wrestling has been unprecedented, both because wrestlers’ names surfaced in a new nationwide steroid scandal being investigated by Sports Illustrated and because the recent WrestleMania, promoted by World Wrestling Entertainment, shattered records for live gate and total revenue,” Holmes added. “The combination of a strong book, endorsed by top sportswriters and literary figures, and a strong market puts WRESTLING BABYLON on track to become the all-time best-selling independently published pro wrestling book.”
