It’s Groundhog Day in Connecticut U.S. Senate politics:
“Shays Assails McMahon on WWE”

To which your humble blogger says: Whoopee.
As I’ve opined repeatedly, the people of Connecticut, like those of the 49 other states, ultimately will get the leaders they deserve. If Chris Shays can accomplish what Rob Simmons in 2010 could not – eliminating Linda McMahon, the co-founder and ex-CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, from the Senate race short of the general election – then that will surely help detox the fall general election campaign.
What we learned from two years ago, however, is that talk is cheap. Richard Blumenthal flew Chris Benoit’s father from Canada to Hartford to tell Nutmeg Staters the story of WWE’s occupational health and safety record. But once installed in office (with the same National Football League PAC money bestowed on colleagues from both major parties), Blumenthal established himself as just another “senator from concussions.”
Let’s see if Shays, the Democrats in the 2012 Senate race, or anyone else can do better moving forward.
