Yesterday I sent this query to the “Sports Fans Coalition” (executive director Brian Frederick) and “League of Fans” (a Ralph Nader group):

I have been reporting that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell got a standing ovation for his speech Monday at the annual meeting of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. I am critical both of the state of NFL practices and public education with respect to traumatic brain injuries, and of this professional medical group for so behaving and thereby compromising the independence of its own public education and advocacy.
I solicit from both the Sports Fans Coalition and the League of Fans statements on the following:
* What is your assessment of the NFL’s current concussion practices and public education?
* What is your opinion of the historical role of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons generally, and of this episode in particular?
