Uh, Governor Malloy — About That Labor Department Audit of Senate Candidate Linda McMahon’s WWE …
August 21, 2011WWE Corporate Website Is Back Up!
August 22, 2011
In a move whose significance cannot be minimized — and I suspect is not the last word — World Wrestling Entertainment has eliminated its corporate website. When you click on the “corporate” link at wwe.com, you now are simply redirected to the home page of the WWE entertainment site.
The change was reported yesterday by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Historically, the corporate site, a repository of general “real world” news releases on company governance, investor relations, and the like, has had content tension with the make-believe facade of pro wrestling, its core business. But WWE is publicly traded, and I cannot believe the McMahon family, which runs it, will be allowed to make the corporate site completely go away — whether for the convenience of co-founder and former CEO Linda McMahon’s second U.S. Senate candidacy or for any other reason. What seems likely is that a retooled and delinked corporate site is in the works.
