Joe Babinsack, in a very nice column at the Wrestling Observer website, says: “Irvin Muchnick is the best pure writer known to the wrestling industry.”
Babinsack calls WRESTLING BABYLON “a compelling and informative compilation of some of his greatest work on the subject of professional wrestling. The timeliness of his pieces remain current, as the tragedies of the past haunt us today, in headlines, in reflections and in showing that the problems of the past have yet to be solved, let alone addressed.”
So it’s churlish of me to note that – while I have indeed written for The New York Times and the Village Voice, among other major publications, and been assistant director of the National Writers Union, I have not, so far as I know, ever been a professor!
