Yesterday I had the pleasure of appearing on “Off the Top Rope,” a pro wrestling segment of the popular Irish podcast Off the Ball, with Will O’Callaghan and Richie McCormack.
In a wide-ranging interview, most of the focus is the 1983 Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka-Nancy Argentino murder case. In addition to discussing Snuka generally, I talk more about the outrageous censorship by VICE TV’s Dark Side of the Ring After Dark of my supposedly “live to tape” panel following the network’s first broadcast of its Snuka documentary. The new Off the Ball podcast is now available in both audio and video forms. Here’s the video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRMzEdNBj6g.
Concussion Inc. readers are familiar with my many previous interviews on the general Off the Ball program, discussing my investigation of the hunt for George Gibney, the former Irish Olympic swimming coach who has been, essentially, a sex crimes fugitive in the United States for a quarter of a century. I told Will and Richie that the Snuka story belongs to the same body of work: a prominent figure in sports or entertainment who violently preys on the more vulnerable and is not held accountable for it.
My most recent interview on Off the Ball about George Gibney was on February 12, and is viewable at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuSlnH5d76o.
