WRESTLING BABYLON: Piledriving Tales of Drugs, Sex, Death, and Scandal – Irvin Muchnick’s timely new book about pro wrestling behind the scenes – is cited by columnist Mark Kriegel in a story at the top of FoxSports.com this morning (Monday, July 2), headlined “Congress needs to get involved … now.”
Kriegel quotes author Muchnick as writing that being a professional wrestler “looks as hazardous as a military billet in Fallujah” in light of his research showing that at least 87 wrestlers – and almost certainly far more – died young between 1985 and 2006 from causes related to the wrestling lifestyle. The murder of Nancy Benoit by her husband Chris Benoit (who then also killed their 7-year-old son and himself) raises to five the additions to this list just since WRESTLING BABYLON went to press last December.
