“US officials have been ordered to release documents that could reveal how American swim coaches ‘greased the wheels’ for George Gibney to be granted a green card despite his alleged sexual abuse of several children while he was Ireland’s national coach.

A San Francisco court ordered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to release of all documents relating to Gibney’s visa on Tuesday, after a request by Irvin Muchnick, a US investigative journalist.

Questions remain about how Gibney, a former Olympic coach, was granted a green card after he was charged in Ireland in 1993 with sexually assaulting and raping 27 young swimmers in his care….”
