\nConcussion Inc.’s Freedom of Information Act request for the visa and green card files on George Gibney – which is being assisted by Senator Dianne Feinstein – is at No. 127 on the queue, according to the search engine at the website of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fulcrum of the Denver branch of the transcontinental cover-up of rapist former Irish national team coach George Gibney is his period with the North Jeffco Swim Team in the late 1990s and his quiet separation from the club when his past surfaced in late 2000.<\/p>\n

Concussion Inc. is seeking federal government documents that might explain how this figure of disgrace, who was a technicality away from criminal prosecution for dozens of sex crimes against children, came to land permanent alien residency in the U.S. The North Jeffco story shows that he continued to have employment in the swimming industry, and daily authoritative access to kids, as well.<\/p>\n

But assuming that North Jeffco simply got duped, and wasn’t a party to the cover-up, the next key question becomes what team management did once the blinders were off. Did they report the matter to USA Swimming? And did USA Swimming proceed to do anything more than stuff the information into the drawer of CEO Chuck Wielgus’s desk containing the secret “flagged list” of bad guys?<\/p>\n

The latter possibility gains even more importance if Gibney, who now lives under an assumed name in Florida, is found to have had additional coaching stops.<\/p>\n

The current co-head coach at North Jeffco, Carmen Babcock, remains curiously unhelpful. She told us, “The current staff and members of North Jeffco Swim Team were not part of the teamduring the time you are inquiring …”<\/p>\n

But as we’ve pointed out, Babcock and colleague Brett Stoyell both started at Jeffco in 2000. She refuses to answer the simple questions of exactly when they began their tenure and when Gibney ended his. Last night she emailed, in part, “[T]he current coaching staff and Board of Directors of NJST have no first-hand knowledge of Mr. Gibney or what his situation with NJST may or may not have been back then.”<\/p>\n

Of course, by that definition, only Gibney himself has “first-hand” knowledge.<\/p>\n
