The office of Lehigh County district attorney James B. Martin has confirmed to Concussion Inc. that the grand jury reviewing the investigation of the 1983 death of WWE wrestler Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka’s girlfriend, Nancy Argentino, is continuing its work, perhaps all the way through the first half of 2015.<\/p>\n

Last year the district attorney referred the long-dormant case to the Seventh Investigating Grand Jury, whose term was set to expire this month. Judge Maria L. Dantos of the Court of Common Pleas accepted Martin’s motion to extend the term of the grand jury until late July.<\/p>\n

The move to send the Snuka matter to the grand jury had been spurred by fresh reporting by the Allentown Morning Call <\/i>and by the ebook,JUSTICE DENIED<\/i>, which I packaged with the assistance of Nancy Argentino’s two surviving sisters.<\/p>\n

Argentino, Snuka’s companion, died in their motel room just outside Allentown while the wrestler, arguably the most popular performer at the time in the then World Wrestling Federation, was taping television shows at the Lehigh County Agricultural Hall.<\/p>\n

Argentino died from a traumatic head injury. The family believes the injury occurred during an altercation with Snuka in the motel room. They point to his several conflicting versions of what happened and to the $500,000 default judgment against Snuka in a federal wrongful death civil lawsuit in 1985. Retired WWE Hall of Famer Snuka, now 71 years old, never paid any portion of the judgment.<\/p>\n
