They knew about it because we (coaches and athletes) were all talking about it in the late 1980″²s and early 1990″²s. I was told by several of Mitch Ivey’s swimmers that he was sleeping with Lisa Dorman in 1988. I heard the whole Suzette Moran story from Pablo Morales over a handful of beers and nearly threw up. I was told Rick Curl was molesting Kelly Davies for years starting when she was 12 by some of the Texas guys. That was the entire reason I formed the abuse subcommittee. I was sick and tired of this crap. No one was standing up. No one was willing to take on these perverts.”<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

We now can eliminate the redactions from previous publications by this blog of the quote above. ConcussionInc.net has acquired, from recipient Jeff Chida, the unexpurgated email of July 26, 2010, in which celebrated ex-swimmer David Berkoff – once and soon to be returning member of the USA Swimming board of directors – spoke explicitly of his and others’ knowledge of Rick Curl’s abuse of Kelley Davies.<\/p>\n

Whatever Berkoff knew or said in 2010 is no longer left to our imaginations.<\/p>\n

Following last month’s publication by The Washington Post <\/em>of the non-disclosure agreement between Curl and the family of Kelley Davies (now Kelley Currin), by which Curl paid $150,000 in return for their silence, which lasted for two decades, USA Swimming says Curl is on “provisional suspension.” An “emergency hearing” by its disciplinary board, originally scheduled during the Olympics, is currently set for September 19.<\/p>\n

As I did on August 10, I list below the entire board of directors roster of USA Swimming. David Berkoff, author of the smoking-gun document regarding Rick Curl, does not respond to my faxes, emails, or voicemail messages. It is time to start asking Berkoff’s board colleagues what they <\/em>knew and when they knew it.<\/p>\n
