Alameda County Superior Court Judge Jeffrey S. Brand today set an immediate schedule for briefs by both sides, and a court hearting, on Concussion Inc.’s effort to compel the University of California Regents to release a 141-page compendium of Berkeley campus police reports surrounding the 2014 football conditioning death of Ted Agu. This follows “rolling basis” release of other internal university documents, and is the climactic issue of the California Public Records Act (CPRA) lawsuit we filed in April 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Judge Brand’s timeline, my attorney Roy S. Gordet will have until October 22 to make our arguments that the 141 pages are not exempted under Section 6254(f) of CPRA, which protects records of law enforcement agencies. UC’s response brief is due November 5, and our final reply brief is due November 12. Oral arguments at the Alameda County Courthouse in Hayward are scheduled for November 21.<\/span><\/p>\n
