The first link above is The Washington Post on the 53-year-old founder and owner of the Maryland Suburban Swim Club, Christopher Thomas Huott, who was arrested on child abuse and sex offense charges Thursday morning after being accused by a former student. Huott thus joins American Swimming Coaches Association Hall of Famer Rick Curl, International Swimming Hall of Famer Murray Stephens, and assorted miscreants at Michael Phelps’ North Baltimore Aquatic in the bid to make the Washington-Baltimore corridor the undisputed national capital of swimming sex abuse. But it’s a hotly contested race to the bottom.

The second link above is Joey Diaz of Gainesville, Florida, arrested on child pornography charges. This story, of course, is accompanied by the formula quote from USA Swimming that everyone there is shocked, shocked. While reporting Diaz … thanks … SwimSwam.com still isn’t amending its record on “the great Alex Pussieldi” — the celebrated coach who operated in South Florida for nine years after everyone knew he housed and secretly videotaped boy swimmers under his supervision and, in some cases, legal guardianship.
