Deena Deardurff Schmidt, whose 2010 interview was a centerpiece of the ABC 20/20 report in 2010 on widespread sexual abuse by coaches in USA Swimming, today demanded that the organization’s chief executive, Chuck Wielgus, account for why he has taken no action against Paul Bergen, the International Swimming Hall of Fame coach who molested her in her youth.
In an email sent this morning to Wielgus, the ex-Olympic gold medalist’s attorney, B. Robert Allard, outlines the background of the case and asks:
o Investigate Mr. Bergen,
o remove Mr. Bergen’s name from the swim meet for underage kids,
o remove Mr. Bergen from USA Swimming,
