WWE’s McDevitt (Part 2 of 3): Lawyer Disputes Record of Federal Search Warrant of Dr. Astin

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Jerry McDevitt takes issue with what I’ve written about Dr. Phil Astin’s steroid prescriptions for Chris Benoit. “The original reports, now accepting [sic] as gospel truth due to the number of times those reports have been repeated, had Dr. Astin prescribing a ten month supply each month to Mr. Benoit,” McDevitt says in his email to me. “Those reports were almost certainly due to mathematical errors and other investigative mistakes which preceded the press conference making those statements, none of which were ever reflected in an actual charge.”

I have simply been citing information – which, to my knowledge, was not rescinded by the federal authorities – in the search warrant for Astin’s office. (The search warrant can be viewed at http://muchnick.net/AstinSearchWarrant.pdf — see paragraph 14.)

That information also is consistent with the astronomical levels of testosterone in Benoit’s post-mortem toxicology report, three months after he passed his WWE Wellness test (presumably because he had Dr. Astin’s prescription justifying whatever level of testosterone was in his system).
